Just the Rev

I am a vicar in Newport, Wales. I am based at St Paul's City Centre Church, which is a growing lively Anglican Church that likes to do things differently.

ditch the ABC for the real question

We need to take stock of how we are doing in the CHurch In Wales. But it is definitely time to move away from the ABC. A (attendance) B (buildings) C (Cash) and ask the real question: Are we beginning to resemble Jesus? Does our Christlikeness make a difference in the lives of one another and others with whom we have contact? Can we, as a group, be identified with the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5) or the Beattitudes (Mt. 5)? Does the world know that we are Christ’s followers by how we love one another (John 13)?

To me, the only measurement question that we regularly need to ask ourselves is: Are we, as a community, becoming more and more like Jesus?
