Just a week now until the Christingle service at St Paul’s. Come and join us on the 13th and make your own Christingle in the relaxed and friendly cafe style church.
so we had as a church group a glorious week away - the weather was ok most of the time and the showers were warm all the time :-)
the things God spoke to me about were:
1. the importance of small groups at St Pauls
if you are interested in being in a small group then we would encourage you to get along to the course we are running next term on the Bible - Know it Love it Live it. over the next few months we will be looking to launch more and more small groups but being part of the course will help you to get to know others and be part of the formation of new small groups. these groups will focus on relationships and discipleship and we see them as crucial to the continuing growth of the church.
2. the importance of parties at St Pauls
we want to be known as a community of believers that know how to enjoy ourselves. this term we have a sister act sing-along, a line dancing evening and other events planned. if you have ideas for parties/events then please let us know.
3. the importance of waiting upon God
if we continue to wait upon God:
1. He will renew our strength
2. He will reveal His plans for us
3. He will restore our faith in Him
Please commit early this time to new wine 2012. it fills up very fast indeed!
thinking a lot about what it means to be a pioneer. if you consider yourself to be a pioneer what brought you to that place? were you pushed or pulled there?
we looked at Matthew 7 this evening at the LAB. i like it in the Message, especially:
Being and Doing
13-14”Don’t look for shortcuts to God. The market is flooded with surefire, easygoing formulas for a successful life that can be practiced in your spare time. Don’t fall for that stuff, even though crowds of people do. The way to life—to God!—is vigorous and requires total attention.
15-20”Be wary of false preachers who smile a lot, dripping with practiced sincerity. Chances are they are out to rip you off some way or other. Don’t be impressed with charisma; look for character. Who preachers are is the main thing, not what they say. A genuine leader will never exploit your emotions or your pocketbook.”
me i like that. “don’t be impressed with charisma; look for character” let people say of you “what a character!”
“What if I stumble, what if I fall?
What if I lose my step and I make fools of us all?
Will the love continue when my walk becomes a crawl?
What if I stumble, and what if I fall?”
